Bont threw away a two goal lead to record their second draw of the season against league leaders Kerry yesterday (02/10/10).

This was Bont's second home match of the season and finished in a similar manor to the first where they threw away a two goal lead to eventually lose to Llanfyllin.

Bont were on top for most of the first half and had a few half chances before they finally made the breakthrough. Sion Meredith, returning to the team after missing the last two matches, made a good run into the opposition half and was brought down 35 yards from goal. Meredith took the free kick himself and drilled the ball towards the goal mouth where Jamie Evans' slightest touch was enough to divert the ball past the keeper and into the net.

The second half was a more even affair as the league leaders played a much more direct game. The home defence held firm as Kerry pushed for an equaliser in the early stages. Bont started to settle as the half went on and scored a second midway through the second period as they were awarded a free kick on the left, 15 yards inside the visitors half. Dewi Sion Evans floated a cross into the danger zone where Michael Lowe managed to steer a header towards goal. The header was too good for the visiting keeper as the ball hit the roof of the net.

The Kerry management decided it was time to make some changes and brought on two substitutes in an attempt to gain control in midfield. The decision paid off as Kerry started to control the game. It wasn't long before they pulled a goal back - the initial cross was cleared by the home defence but as the Bont players pushed out a hopeful chip into the penalty area was met superbly in the air by the Kerry striker who looped his header over Trevor Jenkins in the home goal to make it 2-1.

The leaders direct style of play which had seem them score 19 goals in their first seven games was giving them the advantage at this point. The changes in the Kerry midfield were also making a difference and one through ball found an on rushing midfielder who got managed to get himself on Gwynfryn Hughes' wrong side. The two tussled as the attacking player rushed towards the Bont penalty area before going down just inside the penalty area as he got his shot away. The home team couldn't believe their eyes as the referee pointed towards the penalty spot after what seemed like no more that a brush by Hughes against his opponent. The Kerry penalty taker sent Trevor Jenkins to his right but drilled the ball down the middle for the equaliser.

Both teams created a few openings in the closing stages without creating a real chance. The score finished 2-2 with the home team left wondering how they managed to throw away another two goal lead on their own patch.
